We know food comes in so many different colours. And if you don't, here’s a challenge for you: Next time you’re out doing groceries, try to fill your cart with fruits and vegetables that resemble the rainbow.
Not only are colourful foods insta-worthy (what a time to be alive), they also contain many nutrients that are beneficial to your health. Phytochemicals (or phytonutrients) are what give fruits, vegetables and superfoods their vibrant colours. It occurs naturally and is produced by the plant to assist with their growth and protection from insects and the sun. For us, specific colours provide particular health and disease-reducing benefits.

The phytonutrient lycopene gives these fruits and vegetables their bold red colour. It’s helps with reducing the risk of certain cancers, diabetes, heart disease and stroke, and helps improve the quality of skin.
